[ #SBMGBLOG INTERVIEW ] WITH @DIRECTEDBYMAZIO BY @MECCAGLOBAL #SBMG

I meet a lot of people in this business over the years, coming, and going, crossing paths with every type of person– this  industry  is very small regardless of what level you’re on. But regardless of what level you’re on, you always remember the handful  of genuine, kind, real people  who remain the same from the first day you met them. Still have the same focused, positive upbeat energy today. – CONSISTENTLY GRINDIN’, AND WORKIN’ HARD! Let’s chop it up with this talented Director making moves, someone’s hardwork who  i respect…..D I R E C T O R – MAZIO,….DIRECTED BY MAZIO...

========================================================================================

============================================================================================================================================

====================================================================================================================================

==============================

=

@MECCAGLOBAL – Let the people know who you are, where you”re  originally from, And what it is you do!

@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
Well, I’m known in the industry as Mazio or Mazi O., I don’t care how you spell it as long as the check clears, lol. I started in this industry a long time ago doing different things but I really took off when I picked up the video camera and started shooting music videos. That’s how my name began to circulate thru the industry.
========================================================================
==============================================================================
===========================================================================================
 @MECCAGLOBAL – Which  do you like best shooting music videos or shooting movies?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I directed two movies, and honestly I prefer movies more just because there is always a different story being told, even from scene to scene, and there is always potential to be more creative than in the usual music video… plus movie budgets are way bigger, which means my cut is way bigger. I never seen a music video make a billion dollars.
b23741de-aafb-4339-b3fb-b0d001be9d19
======================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL Let the people know which music videos or projects for artist you  did in case they don’t know,but i’m sure they are familiar with your work?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I shot a lot of videos with different artists but some of the more popular ones are Black Roses by Red Cafe, All About you by Raekwon and Estelle, Return of The Mac by French Montana, Moment for Life by Lil Cease, What Happened by Maino and Jadakiss, Man Down by Tony Moxberg and Jim Jones, The list goes on Iv’e worked with Redman, Joe, Jaz O., Lil Durk, Uncle Murda, Lil Kim, Chinx, Tone Trump, Dylan, etc. lol.
 ========================================================
==================================================================
===========================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL LoL i already  know but just in case they don’t know HA!  Can you speak on that project you working on right now or is it to soon to let the cat out of the bag?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I have a comedy that I wrote, produced and directed starring Julito McCullum (from the Wire), Lowkey Mar, Lil Cease, CJ (Biggies son), Marc John Jefferies, Tyrone, Sophia Body, Jazzy Joyce, Babs, and a bunch of other people, it’s a GREAT cast, and the script is hilarious. It’s basically about these two roomates who get into trouble when someone gets killed in their apartment, so they spend the whole movie trying to figure out what to do. It’s called 99 Problems. But I also am shooting an incredible series,.. called Points. Trust me when I tell you it is going to be the biggest thing since Money & Violence or Empire, it’s a great black show.
==============================================================================================================================================
===============================================================================================================================
 @MECCAGLOBAL  – What made you want to get into this business ?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I have an eye for composition, and I have a creative mind so I just remember hanging out with my boy Dylan from Making the Band and I was like, yo let me try to shoot a music video for you, and he let me do it. The feedback was just so positive that I knew this was my calling, and the more serious I took it, the better I got and the more I found my purpose within this ability. I love it, it’s not just a hustle for me, it’s my passion, it’s something that I would do for free because I love it that much.
887a9b44-a813-42bb-b32f-3c121c6e246b
=======================================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL  Explain to these artist the importance of Visuals along with their work?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
Visuals are important, very important because we live in an era where people want to SEE you just as much as they want to HEAR you. Sites like YouTube are doing hundreds of millions of views. Worldstar has people glued to their computer for hours a day, Netflix, etc. etc. I mean apple created FaceTime because we don’t just wanna listen we wanna see, it’s a much better and longer lasting experience. But you also need QUALITY visuals, and that’s where a lot of artists get it twisted. You can get away with that for a little while but you need quality you can’t keep going to your friend for the $50 discount on a video, you have to spend money if you want to look good.
====================================================================================================================================
===============================================================================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL LOL facts.  What other directors work have you admired coming up from then to now?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
As far as the music video directors, I like what Hype Williams was doing and his creative eye, I respect Benny Boom, I think Chris Robinson is really good with clean classy looks, and Colin Tiley is a fuckin beast. I think Mr. Boomtown, and Eif Rivera are great too just on their work ethic alone. Then of course I gotta show love to my peers like Picture Perfect, Scenario, Shatek, Puma, Taya Simmons, Mills Miller, even Jordan Tower. And then outside of that I love James Cameron he’s my top director, and then Ryan Coogler might be my second right now, and I always liked Spike Jonze he’s so creative.
9d2e5852-e577-4369-933e-c0daf025bdd8
=================================================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL Speak on the importance of grinding from the ground up in case somebody thinks this happens over night  Talk to em!
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I’ve been doing this for a long time now, and I’m STILL grinding to put in that work. Here’s my philosophy in two words about grinding and success; 10,000 hours. The theory is that it takes 10,000 hours at your craft to become an expert. That means consistent hours, not you worked 1 hour on Monday but you gonna take credit for 24hours of work. So until you put in 10,000 don’t be expecting to become number 1. And you can’t just SAY you put in the hours either, because your work will show. I look back at some of my old videos and be like damn what the hell was I thinking when I put that out… but I know what I was thinking, I thought I was the shit, lol. I realize now I wasn’t but thank God I wasn’t arrogant.
185e8ade-c05f-4b7c-ac78-3d0f8ecd5e97
=================================================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL Lol. It’s all good. Well you are A BEAST NOW. Who would you like to work with in this business moving forward?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
Artists I’d like to work with, nobody really comes to mind. Maybe Rihanna because she seems like she would allow me to be really creative in the process. But I think I would really like to work with Leonardo DiCaprio he’s a dope actor to me.
=======================================================
=====================================
====================================
@MECCAGLOBAL What’s your thoughts on  originality being a lost art, instead of trendsetting some are comfortable with carbon copies?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I could go on for days about this topic, it seems like it is the new trend to just copcat other peoples shit. I hate it, I come from an era where you had to do your own thing and not bite somebody elses shit. But these kids these days are confused they think it’s cool to copy another artists whole style.
=================================================
======================================
===================================
@MECCAGLOBAL What’s your thoughts on our HipHop Genre in general?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
In General as I was saying, Hip-Hop is just in a real wack place right now, it’s uninspiring, there are only a few MC’s that I even check for, but overall it has lost it’s true essence. Battle Rap is where the true hip-hop and lyricists exist right now, I love that shit.
timthumb
=================================================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL What don’t  you see in this business  that you would love to see more of?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
I would love to see more focus on quality, and I would like to see more unity, and I definitely would like to see more positivity and less negativity. I just get turned off by all the hoe talk and drug talk, it’s just not cool to me, that’s why as a people we’re fucked up now because nonsense is being fed to our youth non-stop, I hate it. From TV shows, to music, to videos, it’s just detrimental to the positive development of young impressionable minds.
==============================================================
============================================================
====================================
@MECCAGLOBAL  I agree Maz. What’s your definition of success?
@DIRECTEDBYMAZIO
Success is being happpy, and doing what you wanna do whenever you wanna do it. Success is being a role model, success is effecting the world in such a way that you create more leaders and role models.
===============================================================
======================================================
================================

Press & Media Was invited to get a listen to his new project. [By the way  Tidal gave out 30 day free subscription cards for tidal ]
=For ChoppaZoe to be a new artist the crowd was feeling his music every song grabbed their attention.
I like to see that for new artist. That says a lot for a new artist when you got the crowd’s attention.

Doc is the person that introduced me to Chaz.
He is the one that brought me to Black Hand Entertainment – the one that discovered ME So to spoke, when i was in a local Rap 2 girl group (unsigned ) in Atlanta called (Chase ) when Doc was in Atlanta we recorded a song in Atlanta at his boy studios he said ( All these damn years i knew you Mec, i never knew you could rap? You sittin on Barz! LOL secret squirle ass Doc gave me that nickname === i forgot what movie that came from but that song we all recorded in Atlanta he took back to New York landing in Black Hand Studios. Chaz was the first Person to give me my shot in this business. My first record deal was with BLACK HAND –You never forget people who actually opened the door for you at the very, very beginning of your career and for that i’m always appreciative.

@MECCAGLOBAL – Let the people know who you are? Give them a quick run down on where you originally from.

===

@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – What’s good people, my name is Doc i’m from the heart of South Side Jamaica Queens.

===

====
@MECCAGLOBAL – What made you get involved in music?

=
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – I Always loved music and at a young age i had a knack for rapping so i started freestylin’ at a couple of park jams. Made a lil buzZ for my self there to but i never took music AKA make a album too serious.

==

DOC4

==
@MECCAGLOBAL -Explain to the people what Industry Unlocked is, and how did this new venture come about?

==
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – Well INDUSTRY UNLOCKED started when i moved to ATL my people wanted to get into the magazine business so that’s what it started as =but they ran into alot of BS and started to let the name die but i always thought it was a ground breakin’ name and could possibly make it in any industry. So when i moved back home to NEW YORK CITY i started a platform website to showcase videos, and music and then i decide to create video and the rest is history.

==============================================================================================

@MECCAGLOBAL  – Let them know what it is you do?

==
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – Well i’m a video Director / Editor /Focusing on QUALITY  VISUALS!

===

===
@MECCAGLOBAL – Who gave you your start in this music business?

=
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – Well my first start in the music business i was signed to livyio g his first real act was the fushnickens  you know la smoov – then we signed with Chaz Williams and Black Hand Ent.

==

==

@MECCAGLOBAL – What would you say out of everything you do you specialize in?

==

@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – I specialize in Visual content, and visual story tellin’. Official!

==

==
@MECCAGLOBAL – What’s the difference being in front of the boards as an engineer vs being in the booth as an artist and now behind the camera directing, shooting videos and films which one is more exciting to you and how was it transitioning into both positions.

==
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – Well as a Video Director / Editor i feel more creative. I’m able to see a vision in a song and bring it alive= More creative, and visual.

==
@MECCAGLOBAL – Over the years artist never forget our first deal we sign how have you grown or evolved from the Doc back n the days the artist to the Doc right now the business man 2016?

==
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – Well as a artist I learned a hell of a lot about the music industry. I really had my feet in it, not like most of these Executives today that have never been in the streets. They’re just running with what’s hot online. Most don’t know what talent is. They are about the microwave music of today.

==

==
@MECCAGLOBAL – What advice can you give artist in general about their music before they put it out there to the consumers?

==
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – My advice, well u cant really give the artist of today advice because they go with what’s trending, and what the radio is blastin’. The only thing i can say is stay true to self! – Me, i dont respect a artist that just follow what’s hot at the time following trends.

===
@MECCAGLOBAL – Explain to these artist the importance of investing in their craft and how do you feel about handouts?

==

@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – Well if you don’t invest in yourself nobody will take you serious bottom line! Plus, when you invest in yourself you gain respect = something the music industry lacks.

================================================================================
@MECCAGLOBAL – What would you like to see more of in this business?

===
@INDUSTRYUNLOCKED – I would like to see more Genuine people, not them ” DO IT FOR A DOLLAR CHASERS” that are destroying the industry with low ball tactics to get money and over saturate the gam. = Meaning soon as something pops here comes the flood gate of niggas doing the same thing. – BUT – most don’t have real love. They are just trying to get money.

=============================================================================

@MECCAGLOBAL Who would you like to work with in this business across the board?

====

@INDUSTRY UNLOCKED – Well i would like to work with Directors more then artist now, like Eiff Reivara. Itchy House ( Jay and Rock ) Dre films and this dude from ATL House of Shoots Artist wise. 50 cent or Rick Ross. Their Videos are Movies and I love the Cinematic style of video directing.

“TIMBS ALL SEASON / FOR ASS KICKING REASONS!”

For the real Hip Hop Heads who grew up on Authentic / Gritty / Grimey NEW YORK CITY Hip Hop you know these 2 very well. From under that Boot Camp/ Duck Down movement representin’ lyrics  since they stepped on the scene making their debut on Black Moon’s Enter The Stage ( Salute to BM another group that represents Hip Hop ) but let’s chop it up with the dynamic duo Tek and Steele…..Google or YouTube all of their music to check their history. @MeccaGloBal Peace & Blessings Let the people know how everybody connected, the different groups and how everything  manifested under that umbrella.

photo 1

Tek:  The boot camp clik  consists of: BlackMoon,OGC, HeltahSkeltah & yours truly SMIF&WESSUN . Toppdog of OGC & my PNC Steele are brothers through blood but we all are brothers.

Steele: I Grew up in Brownsville Brooklyn Sethlow Projects. Rock,Louieville and Dj Logic also lived in Sethlow. Sean P lived up the block, Strang lived around the corner, I met Tek in Printing High School and I met Buckshot through his sister that I went to night school with. It pretty much unfolded the way Roc explains it on operation lockdown. Buck got signed then we came in and we brought Heltah Skeltah and they brought OGC. We each cultivated eachother at places like the doghillee, the house of reps, or the camp.

 @MeccaGloBal How do you feel as a black man watching what’s going on in our society right now across the board.

photo 4

Tek: It’s painful to see & hear  ignorance & fear to not form  together & do something about it, well at least try to.

Steele: As a Blackman I have many concerns but I am a father and my 1st concern is the safety and freedom of my sons. In reference to what has been going on with the police, I work to keep my sons informed on how to carry themselves in what I like to call the wilderness of North America. It’s a Jungle out here so we have to be prepared for anything. Then on a flipside there are many opportunities out here. If you apply yourself Know that as a Blackman the chips are stacked against us from the gate but that is no excuse to accept failure. What doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger.

@MeccaGloBal  What advice can you tell our youth particularly our young men  just in general regarding staying focused becoming a productive citizen and not following the crowds getting into trouble.

photo 3

Tek: Everything isn’t for everybody. Find yourself & GOD. Believe & invest in yourself.

Steele: Definitely what Tek said,  in addition you need to love yourself because you are a valuable asset to your family. Be creative be bold and assertive in the face of adversity. Don’t be discouraged by people or negative energy. Anything great takes time. Find your passion and fly.

 @MeccaGloBal  What’s the difference in our Hip Hop Culture here in the states vs. how they receive our music overseas.

Tek:  I think the difference is mostly or mainly they receive the music later than we do & they don’t really get it in a abundance like we do. But for the most part the LUV us there!

Steele: I agree with Tek. I also think that there is a desire to learn about the culture especially when you didn’t necessarily grow up in it. New York is the MECCA where it all started. I believe people overseas actually study the pioneers so they appreciate the culture as a whole. On the other hand on this side of the water it may be due to the necessity and or the desire to make money– that kind of desensitized many of us in regards to the culture. We live what we rap about for the most part so being of the culture you see it from the inside out so sometimes you don’t get to appreciate  it’s beauty within the ugliness.

@MeccaGloBal  What do you like better recording in the studio or performing in front of a live crowd and why ?

Tek: I LUV them both equally, because the creating process plays a major part in what you put forth  out there in the world and on stage. The studio is your  sanctuary  & blank canvas where u can kneel & pray & paint all-night if you feel. The stage is where u get 2 unveil  your masterpiece & your leaving the supporters with a piece of you to take home & cherish and remember look back on and play over and over again getting all warm and  special feelings inside, taking them back to that special moment  or wherever it be for them.

Steele: The process is amazing to say the least. You have to earn that right to get on that mic in the booth and onstage. You can only hope to make something great enough to make it to that stage. If you are able to do that then the stage becomes your reward for making it to the next level. Then if the people receive you then you become elevated. It’s a natural high.

 @MeccaGloBal What’s your most memorable moments in Hip Hop, and what’s missing in Hip Hop?

Tek:  My most memorable moments in HIPHOP is 2 numerous 2 mention, but the 1 that stands out right now is US SMIF&WESSUN reaching our 20th yr anniversary doing what  we love & the thing I see that’s  missing in HIPHOP is Unity & Loyalty.

Steele: One of the most memorable moments was working with Tupac and staying with him for a few days out in Cali. That was a spiritual experience. Another moment was being in the studio with the angel Aaliyah that was just insane. She  was truly a beautiful person. I felt we were blessed to be in the presence of these people.

@MeccaGloBal What producers & Artist would like you to work  with?

Tek : ALL OF THE DOPE ONES

Steele: That’s a long list. I’m something like a weirdo so I love to be creative. There are so many talented people out here doing some really cool and innovative stuff. Shit Kanye just did a song with Paul McCartney that’s insane. There is no limit to creativity.

 @MeccaGloBal  Let your fans & supporters know what you are working on, what should they be on the lookout for? Give your fans all of your social media contacts so they can stay up to date.

images-2

Tek :  S&W & BCC project! This past year we dropped an EP titled BORN&RAISED an all HIPHOP/Jamaican entirely produced by BEATNICK & KSALAAM.  I don’t fuck wit FB AT ALL! I know  it’s one out there but it’s a fan page I have  nothing 2 do with it at all i go nowhere near it! U can  only catch me on social media out here in these streets or at our shows or on both twitter & IG @teksmokeelah Shout out to the beard gang  Shout out to you MeccaGloBal for the interview. Salaams.

@DJBEDTYME 357- You have to know your role in the whole scheme of things and be willing to play your part. Most accept it for what its worth, but start to feel they are bigger than the main picture. Nothing wrong with wanting more for yourself, but most attempt to tear down those closest to them, in order to achieve that wanted success. Fortunately, I’ve always been DJBEDTYME357 and had a certain level of respect & relevance in the music industry before working for Remy Ma, but once that happened, it was a great bonus to the existent reputation. Its incredible just having her back in the free world, everything else is just added blessings.

@MECCAGLOBAL- You have broken a lot of these new  artist music that   i hear today i’m glad to know you were a huge part of some of their starts. How has the love been in return in respect to some of these same artist once they reached a certain level?

===

===

===

@DJBEDTYME 357- For the most part, the continued respect is there and that’s all I’ve anticipated from day one.

===

===

===

@MECCAGLOBAL- Explain to the people the workout videos i see  you bed, you working out, toned up on your instagram. – Give out some tips, or helpful advice for others.

===

===

===

@DJBEDTYME357- Oddly enough, those videos are just testaments to me actually working out and not just talking about it or taking photos in workout gear. I’ve been working with a trainer for some time now, to make sure I have that extra push which is often needed. The best advice I could ever offer, is to stay consistent with not just the working out, but eating properly as well.

===

===

===

@MECCAGLOBAL- Let the people know what you been up too lately.

===

===

===

@DJBEDTYME357- For the most part I’ve been out here enjoying the regular aspect of life and all the blessings. Quite often we continue to work hard and don’t take the necessary time to enjoy it.

===

===

===

@MECCAGLOBAL- How does it feel to see Rem & Pap enjoying what’s been due to BOTH of them for a minute, long time coming?

===

===

===

@DJBEDTYME357- At times I can’t put it into words because I was there literally, with the both of them during the 6 1/2 years, so it’s still taking some getting used to.
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL- Tell the people how they can be involved in the faces in the crowd showcases you been a part of for a long now? – I see the next one coming up Tuesday  March 22nd 2016.
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- The easiest and most effective way is come out to an actual show. We hold the showcase once every 4th Tuesday of the month inside SOBs in NYC and if by chance you can’t make it, simply shoot an email to chalant@facesshowcase.com
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL- How important is it for us to have these type of showcases to platform up and coming artist and to be a part of their career from the start.
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- These showcases serve as a sneak preview of new talent before it becomes mainstream, so the significance is extremely important. Most times the credibility of certain showcases places a blemish upon it, that doesn’t allow the participants to further benefit as they should.
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL- How do you feel when people think you owe them something a part of your success so to speak but didn’t lift one finger to help?
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- Over the years I’ve learn to not allow the negativity to become contagious. Someone will always feel deserving of more, but if you don’t entertain it, there is nothing to feel.
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL- Let the people know how Lexx 9 Eleven doing, and whats going on with The Real ATM ?
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- Lexx is maintaining and doing the best with the situation handed to him and The Real ATM for the most part have grown into legitimate businesses.
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL- What are some tips you can give to these upcoming / Unsigned Independent artist?
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- Invest in yourself and don’t anticipate handouts, that way you don’t owe anyone anything.
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL- What’s in store coming up for you DJBEDTYME357?
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- Only God knows that answer, but I will do my best to continue following the path he has layed for me and enjoy every moment of it.
===
===
===
@MECCAGLOBAL Give the people  your social media contacts so the people can get in touch with you.
===
===
===
@DJBEDTYME357- Everything is @DJBEDTYME357 on all social media (snapchat, twitter, facebook, instagram & periscope) and like usual…..”I hope ya’ll have a comfortable seat and a clear view, wear a smile with me”
